Your first visit to Lawrence Dental Studio involves a few special steps so that we can get to know you. To understand what to expect, please read through this page. You’ll find all the practical information you need, such as a map and directions to our office, practice hours, payment policies and more. There’s also background information about our committed staff and our first visit procedures.
Initial Oral Examination
The comprehensive examination is completed in order to understand your concerns, our findings and then create a plan to help you achieve your desired health outcome. Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, oral cancer screening, dental and periodontal records, diagnosis and treatment recommendations and discussion. We will also take x-rays, if indicated, which may include a panoramic x-ray for the diagnosis of any cysts, tumors or abscesses in the jaw bone as well as the bite-wing x-ray series for diagnosis of decay between the teeth. We may also elect to do salivary testing for genomic bacterial and/or personal analysis, if indicated. In addition, we are well invested in CAMBRA (Caries Management By Risk Assessment) and utilize a CariScreen meter to identify if there is a high probability of future decay. Caries Risk Assessment is recommended by the American Dental Association and an overview of this assessment can be found by clicking here.
